They aren’t from Jerusalem.

NOT a Jerusalem Artichoke!
They aren’t even artichokes.
And although they look like root ginger, they are actually sunflower tubers!
Now my mum used to tell me that if I ate apple pips, I’d have apple trees growing out of my belly-button / ears / nose etc etc … If that’s true, then does it follow that if I eat a sunflower tuber, then … ?
Oh I DO hope so ; )
Given the curious nature of this ingredient, we thought it should be one of our January

: )
We had Jerusalem Artichoke in our Veg Box recently, so we tried the Abel & Cole recipe – it was fabulous ! Really creamy flavour, and a good excuse to wield my new Bamix.
Great news, Mick! Am doing that one today myself I think… by the way … what’s a Bamix?!
Jerusalem artichoke soup is delicious, I garnish mine with a tiny drizzle of white truffle oil and it takes it to another dimension.
Ooh yum, Dommebell! If I weren’t snowed in, I’d be off out for truffle oil so I could have this for my lunch! Drat … : )
And this post got a second airing in Carnival of the Recipes – this time in the February edition:
