Coleshill Organics Open Day

On Saturday we (me, toddler & baby) went along to the National Trust’s annual Local Food Festival, at Coleshill near Swindon.

As part of the festival, Coleshill Organic Farm opens its doors to visitors for the day, to give you a chance to look around their 10 hectare plot, admire their tomato polytunnel and generally get an appreciation for how much work goes into their vegetable box scheme.

We got the chance to meet Sonia and chat to her about why she and Pete run their veg box scheme.

Basically, they’re passionate about organic, local, seasonal food. As a result, they grow over 80 varieties of vegetables, to keep their fruit and veg boxes as interesting as possible.

If you walk around their site, it gives you an idea of how much work is involved. Yet they seem to love every minute of it! Sonia’s enthusiasm for providing the best quality possible for her customers was clear and it’s obviously appreciated, if the glowing comments she was getting from customers visiting the open day are anything to go by.

So if you’re within 25 miles of the Coleshill area and would like to know more about Coleshill Organic’s veg box scheme and farm shop, check out their webiste: http://www.coleshillorganics.co.uk or give them a call on 01793 861 070.
